Black Brant at Cley!

Last chance saloon before Christmas for the 'Summer Wine Crew'! Brian, Norman and I started early and were on Cley reserve by 8.30. To be honest, there wasn't anything to really get the pulses racing, but we had some great views of two feeding Little Egrets and there were plenty of the expected waders: Avocets, Black-tailed Godwits, Golden Plover and so on. A Kingfisher and a pair of Stonechats were also noteworthy....

While Foggy & Clegg adjourned to the visitors centre, I walked round to the Coastguards, being rewarded by good views of one of the long-staying Black Brants and a seal pup resting on the beach.

Salthouse was pretty barren, so we moved westwards to Holkham. The fields along Lady Anne's Drive held a few Brents and Pinkfeet, but no unusual geese, so we moved on to our final stop at New Holkham. Despite it only being 1.00pm, we still saw at least five Red Kites, as well as several Common Buzzards. All in all, a great little session!
