Windy weather!

Just for some fresh air, rather than in expectation of any unusual wildlife, I took a stroll around the Fen this morning, dodging showers and leaning against the strong, chilly wind...

There were still plenty of Marsh Harriers about: five or six in the air at once in front of Fen Hide, but little else. They were being continually harassed by corvids: don't know why they tolerate it, really!

Completing the 'loop' produced Great Spotted Woodpecker, Little Owl and all the usual woodland birds, as well as a somewhat confused Mallard perched on the chimney of the pumphouse. A gloriously fresh-plumaged Pheasant paraded by the stump in the woods.

Most interesting to watch was a Chinese Water Deer swimming across a dyke: I knew they could swim, but hadn't realised they were so good at it!

A quick drive out to Halvergate Bridge provided views of Common and Rough-legged Buzzard, but no SEOs...
