A for Andromeda!

I'm lucky enough to have a mate - Nik Szymanek - who is probably Europe's top astro-imager (his pictures are in every Astronomy magazine!) I asked his advice about improving my pitiful attempts at photographing M31, the Andromeda Galaxy: he advised using image stacking software, which I've had a bash at today. Lots to learn, but you can definitely see the image is of a spiral galaxy now!

Incidentally: when you look at this picture, you're seeing our nemesis:  in the future M31 will collide with our galaxy, the Milky Way, disrupting both and probably destroying all life....
