Sea watch at Sheringham

With a morning free, Linda and I decided to make an early start and spend a couple of hours in the shelters on Sheringham sea front.

Somewhat disappointingly the wind had dropped and the sky cleared, so that not much was passing close in: nevertheless we managed three or four Arctic Skuas and a distant Pom, as well as hundreds of Gannets. Several inshore fishing boats were hauling their pots and the fishermen on board were getting much better views of the Gannets than we were! Quite a few Gadwall flew west, as well as a couple of strikingly-marked gulls: I've never seen a small gull with a wavy dark forewing before! A Hobby flew in from the horizon: you'd've thought it would be travelling in the opposite direction!

When we returned to the car we found an elderly couple from Canada waiting to tell us that they'd driven into it: just one of those days....
