On the way back to Norfolk we called in at Frampton Marsh: nothing particularly rare, but glimpses of a Black-necked Grebe were welcome, as were Ringed and Little Ringed Plover, Red-crested Pochard, a late Pintail, Spoonbill and a Painted Lady.

Wykeham Forest and Frampton Marsh
During our three day expedition we tried to visit as many sites as possible: just west of Scarborough is the beautiful mixed woodland of Wykeham Forest. This holds a good population of raptors, including Goshawks and our target species, Honey Buzzard. In the event we missed a Honey by five minutes, but did 'enjoy' distant views of a couple of Goshawks, a Kestrel with prey, as well as Crossbill, Bullfinch and various common warbler species.
