East Ruston Old Vicarage Gardens

Linda and I are both very keen gardeners, as are friends Sue and Peter. We'd long intended to visit the gardens at East Ruston (near Happisburgh) together, and the weather was perfect to finally do so.

I really hadn't anticipated just how impressive - and extensive - the gardens would be: they occupy several acres of what was once clay farmland and are divided into numerous zones. One of these is planted with desert species including Yuccas and Opuntias, while other areas hold Tree Ferns, Echiums and even Bananas! Naturally these wonderful flower displays attract plenty of insects: we saw seven species of butterfly and four dragonflies. Well worth a visit...
