Strumpshaw can be hard work this time of year! Lots of butterflies still, plus Southern, Migrant & Brown Hawker... Only birds of note were these!

David Bryant: For twenty five years I was the UK's only full time meteorite dealer. I've met and spent time with many astronauts, cosmonauts and pilots. When I'm not looking for birds and other wildlife to photograph, I play guitar and sing in a terrific rock & blues band. My wife Linda and I used to travel all over the UK to see - and video - new birds: three times we took part in the National 24 hour Bird Race with the Cley Casuals team. We won twice and came second once: our highest audited total was 158 species.
During a hectic few years making and selling rare bird videos, we passed 400 species and decided it was time to ease back a bit and now concentrate on the eastern counties.I generally manage to see around 220 species a year: twice I've passed 300
