Garden work!

One of the first things Linda and I put in our 'new' garden twenty three years ago was a wooden pergola: this divided the lawn into two, creating a kind of 'secret garden' where we installed a splash pool, lots of Asian plants and sculptures and a couple of tons of limestone!

The pergola finally gave up the ghost during the recent storms, the rotten bases snapping off in their metpost supports. We've replaced it with a really smart metal arch, which - to our eyes - seems more in keeping with the rest of the garden. It also, of course, allows the velociraptor to be seen from  my office window!
