The month of the Comet....

A friend suggested I put together a collage of the near month-long apparition of Neowise: here it is, in chronological order, from top left to bottom right.

It was an absolute thrill to see this beautiful visitor from the Oort Cloud - let's hope it's the start of a sequence! Meanwhile, mid-August sees the annual Perseid meteor shower. On a really good year, this can be spectacular: I remember an August 15th peak some years back that looked like snow coming towards the windscreen of a moving car!
