Just before sunset the Sun displayed the largest sunspot group I have personally witnessed: perhaps unsurprisingly there was an aurora alert issued and I waited impatiently for nightfall. In the event the 'northern lights' weren't as impressive here on the Heath as elsewhere: my stepson Simon in Cromer got some fabulous photos! In the west the crescent Moon was a beautiful sight: 'the old Moon in the new Moon's arms'.
