An 02.30 visit to the end of our drive allowed me to photograph this month's full Moon: because of its closeness to the southern horizon it did indeed appear pinkish. (Of course, the name is actually derived from a Native American calendar and reputedly marks the start of wild strawberry picking!)
The Moon has reached a point in its orbit around the Earth called a major lunar standstill, the lowest its transit across the sky ever gets: it won't do so again until 2043
