Last night's waning Moon allowed great views of the once-notorious O'Neill's Bridge, an alleged artificial structure on the Moon's surface. Discovered in 1953 by American journalist and amateur astronomer John O'Neill, numerous well-known figures such as Sir Patrick Moore and Harold Wilkins confirmed the observation. Following much heated debate and controversy it was eventually decided that the 'bridge' was a trick of the light, whereupon Sir Patrick stated that he'd never believed O'Neill's claims!
