Since Linda was tending to her Apiary this morning (and since Hickling is on the way!) she dropped me off at the NWT reserve. As I walked out of the woods towards 'The Mound', I came across several nectaring Swallowtails - which was nice!
A couple of acquaintances were on the first platform overlooking Brendan's Marsh: one of them called out that he had the reported Pectoral Sandpiper in his scope: I scuttled up and watched it disappear into the grass! There followed an hour's wait, during which I added Spoonbill, Ruff and Great White Egret to the day list. I'd agreed to meet Linda at the reserve centre, so wandered back to the mound. Looking north I realised that my erstwhile companions were obviously watching the Pec again! I power-walked back and enjoyed good, if distant, views. Great to meet David, Richard, Tim and other familiar faces and shoot the breeze about birds and people in the 'good old days'!
