A visit to Aylesbeare Common was wonderfully productive, with great views of all the target species. Lots of damsel flies, but nothing rare as far as I could see, but the dragons were spectacular with Emperor, Golden-ringed and Keeled Skimmer by the ponds and Common and Black Darter on the Heath. Butterflies included Silver-washed Fritillary and lots of Graylings
Lots of nice birds, too: Dartford Warbler, Buzzard, Stonechat and Tree Pipit being the highlights.
Back in Sidmouth, a Grey Wagtail fed along the Sid and on the sea front a Harris Hawk was on patrol as a gull deterrent!
