Fabulous morning at Strumpshaw!

I've felt for a long time that getting a super view of one of 'our' special birds is a lot more satisfying than a fleeting glimpse of some poor little vagrant.

Don't get me wrong: I've done my fair share of long-distance birding (as far north as Seaforth Marina, as far west as Kenfig!) and, if I can find a friend to come with me, I'm still up for the odd twitch!

Today, though, was just special: close views of three big flocks of Bearded Tits (over 100 in total) and similarly decent eyes-full of Water Rails - good company, too!
