Typical Winter wildlife at Strumpshaw

A sudden dispersal of the fog (and the lawn not dry enough to cut!) saw me at the Fen by 8.30. No Brian, but I bumped into a couple of familiar figures photographing a large (60+) flock of Siskins: Mike and Liz.

A walk around the whole reserve and an hour or so in the hides produced lots of views of the regular birds one expects this time of year: Marshies, Bearded Tits, Kingfisher, Snipe and a pair of confiding Stonechat. Common Gulls are not that regular at SF, so it was interesting to watch one glide past Tower Hide.

Still a few butterflies (three species!) and dragonflies (two!) as well a beautiful Hare on the 'back path'

(Oh! And I managed to mow the lawn when I returned home!)
