Waxwings at Long Stratton

More filthy twitching! With Linda away for the day, it seemed silly not to have a bash at the recently-reported Waxwings just twenty minutes away in Long Stratton. I walked the half-mile from the free carpark behind the Co-op to the Police Station at the southern end of the town (although I could have parked right by the birds!) There was already half a dozen 'togs' present, including one who was perched on top of her van! The five birds spent a lot of time in a tall birch tree, occasionally flying down to feed on rowan berries just a few yards from where we were standing. Other 'new for the year' birds included a large Sparrowhawk that circled over the Waxwings a couple of times!
