Cambridge Institute of Astronomy

Yesterday afternoon was our fourteenth attendance of the IoA's open afternoon. This event (linked to the Cambridge Festival) is intended to engage the general public in things astronomical, with lots of lectures and activities to suit all ages and backgrounds. A few years after SPACEROCKS UK opened for business (in 1999!) the delightful Prof. Carolin Crawford invited us to take part, the idea being that Linda and I would chat to the public (particularly children) about meteorites: in return, we were allowed to set up a display for sale.

After Carolin retired we were delighted to be asked back by her charming successor, Dr Matthew Bothwell. This was, I think, his third time in charge of the event: the organisation was, as always, impeccable and we had an enjoyable - if tiring - day.
