A sunny day was the perfect excuse to continue on from our regular Sunday car boot up to the North Coast. Apart from a very vocal Nightingale, no really good birds (the White-spotted Bluethroat disappeared just before we arrived, at about the same time that an Osprey passed over the reedbeds!)
We did, however, meet up with old chum (and best man!) Bob Walker: it was great to see him and chew over old times - let's try and stay in touch now! LOL!
A move to Walsey Hills produced good views of Wall Brown, female Hairy Dragonfly and (I think!) Black-tailed Skimmer, but no Green Hairstreaks.... (Although 'Pinenutz Jim' claimed he'd seen a few while he was waiting for his blonde companion to wake from her slumbers among the gorse!)
Last stop was Salthouse Heath, where Richard Millington told us a Black Kite had been reported from Strumpshaw!
(UPDATE! It was a Red Kite: Ben Lewis saw the photo...)
