Having an hour or so free, I took a quick four-mile loop through the dunes at Winterton, hoping to connect with some newly-arrived migrants.
And mirabile dictu, I did! Wheatears were everywhere: I probably saw at least fifteen, while 6 Chiffchaffs, 2 Blackcaps and 4 Ring Ouzels were visible but hard to photograph! Residents included some lovely Yellowhammers and Stonechats and another (or the same!) flock of six Cranes thermalled north.
While I was looking at the Cranes, I noticed a Goshawk flying with them! Luckily it spiralled half a mile nearer before stooping off south.
