At 7.30, I met Brian for an early stroll around the Fen, starting along Lackford Run, where the Penduline Tit has most often been seen recently. No sign in over two hours, but lots of all three hirundines and at least two Bitterns booming away in the mist!
Along the riverbank literally dozens of newly-arrived Willow Warblers joined in with the singing of the already-established Chiffchaffs and Blackcaps: about a dozen Cetti's Warblers and a couple of Song Thrushes added to the chorus!
One of the resident Little Owls dozed in a new hole in the usual tree, allowing good views without leaving the driving seat!
