Rough-legged Buzzard

Last night Chris Lansdell popped a comment on the blog to let me know that the most distant of the Buzzards we'd been looking at was definitely a Rough-leg: after we'd left, he'd watched it in flight with his scope and was able to pick out all the relevant discriminators. Luckily, I'd managed to persuade Brian to take a couple of pictures with his 'big'  lens while the bird was perched on a post about a mile away! You can plainly see that it's one of the two we'd seen earlier...
Many thanks to Chris and Brian and to Lee's mate who picked it up on the fence post!

Talking of Buzzards, Linda and I came across a proper little 'kettle' of six birds this morning as we drove north between New and Old Buckenham.
