The Perseid meteor shower has come and gone for another year and - just as happened with the lunar eclipse - a prolonged period of clear, dark skies abruptly ended just before the shower maximum!
I did manage to see a few last night, despite the east Norfolk skies being a little hazy: they were generally heading upwards from the north-eastern horizon, passing close to Cassiopeia: the image below has had a 'shooting star' added to simulate the brightest I saw.
