A successful day's birding in the Brecks

It's been a while since Linda, Sue, Peter and I had a day's birding together, so we met at 9.15 for a trip down to the Brecks. First stop was Lynford Arboretum, where virtually all our targets surrendered without a fight: up to nine Hawfinches (dotted around the treetops!) Green Woodpecker, Siskin, Treecreeper and Marsh Tit being the highlights. After coffee we moved south west to Cranwich where, after a bit of a walk, we all enjoyed good - if distant - views of both Great Grey Shrike and Woodlark.

Lunch at Brown's was extremely pleasant - and good value - before moving on to a usually reliable Goshawk site. The weather was against us today, so we headed home, pausing only for hot drinks and shopping in Swaffham.
