To try out the new camera we decided on a run down to Minsmere, detouring to Thorpeness first to look for the long-staying Ring-necked Duck. Despite freezing our parts off for an hour we couldn't locate it, but got some compensation in the form of five Goosanders, a Great Egret and a Bittern.
The move to Minsmere wasn't desperately productive, but lots of Pintail, a Yellow-legged Gull and numerous year ticks were all good - as was the vegan sausage bap!
Last stop was Ness Point, Lowestoft where a long search failed to locate either the Purple Sandpipers or any Black Redstarts: a fine drake Scoter with a very yellow bill was good to see, though.
