A few shots from 6.45 this morning: I think this is as close as the two planets will appear in the sky. You can definitely see both the phase of Venus and Saturn's rings in the close ups.
Incidentally: the ISS will be visible (cloud permitting!) every morning this week - details on 'Heavens Above'.
