The Moon is two days past full, so that the rich crater fields along its eastern limb were beautifully displayed in high relief tonight. I never fail to be enchanted by the Moon's battered surface: interesting to reflect on how many of the impactors that made the craters and maria basins (probably all!) would have hit the Earth if the Moon hadn't been there!
