What a drive! In impossible conditions, with tyres that were down to the backing Lewis Hamilton wins again, securing his seventh world championship at the same time. Lord Ian Botham? Sir Geoff Hurst? Sir Mick Jagger? These 'legends' don't stand comparison with a man who literally risks his life every fortnight, yet remains an inspiration to us all - but particularly young people of all racial backgrounds...

Hi David. You are the blogger I follow most. We are of similar ages and of similar thoughts. But your post on Lewis is way off mark. He is the best F1 Driver we have ever seen in our lifetime. But Legend? Oh no, his driving skills do not match his personality. I worked for Stevenage Borough Council for many years and Peartree Mead is a superb estate, one of the best in the county. It is not a slum (as Lewis claims he was brought up in) its an excellent council house. He wears a Padlock around his neck to say he is against slavery, but he doesn't mind being paid by Mercedes, whose past money and fortune came from slavery does he. Every day, I had to pass his picture on the wall in SBC's Offices. What a two faced Man he is. Fantastic Driver he is. Legend he is not. Mike Harris
Hi Mike!
I respect your point of view, I really do, and totally understand where you're coming from: but my post was intended to highlight the illogicalities of the UK awards system, where billionaires like McCartney, John, Jagger are given knighthoods as vote-gathering ploys by the incumbent government. And flawed 'heroes'? Botham has less integrity, IMHO, than his foot massaging device!
