Following 'essential work', Brendon's Scrape at Hickling is still virtually empty of water - and hence birds! Apparently the NWT are not allowed to divert water from Hickling Broad until November at the earliest, so any wader passage there might be this year won't add to the reserve's excellent Spring tally.
There were a few odds and ends: Red Kite, Bearded Tit (way off in the reedbed) lots of Swallows and House Martins and a confiding Stonechat.
On the way home I stopped to admire the first large flock of Pinkfeet I've seen this year: no unusual 'hangers-on', I'm afraid!
