Brian, Norman and I enjoyed a morning on the North Coast, starting at a cold, breezy Holkham Beach. The Snow Buntings were easy to find - in fact, they found us, flying in and landing a few yards away. The Shorelarks were more problematical, flying past as we walked back to the car. A seawatch gave distant views of a pair of Red-breasted Mergansers and what may have been a Red-necked Grebe, while birds of the day (for me!) were the six Grey Partridges I found by the new cafe. Nearby a Chiffchaff was feeding busily!
Since we were nearby, we moved west to the A149 layby and were rewarded with sustained flight views of the White-tailed Eagle.
A brisk walk out to the famous five-barred gate at Blakeney failed to produce the hoped-for close ups of the newly-arrived flock of Twite, so I had to be content with flight views as they zipped over the path.
Coffee and the obligatory scone at Cley was followed by a walk out along the East Bank: just a couple of Ruff and a Dunlin were new for the year.
