Today was the first post-Christmas run out for the 'Summer Wine Crew': with nothing particularly obvious to chase, we decided on a walk around Cley NWT Reserve, starting at the Beach Car Park. Almost the first bird we saw was a Great Northern Diver, close enough in for a reasonable couple of smudges, despite the poor light
A walk along to the North Scrape screen added Meadow Pipit, Skylark, Red-throated Diver, Guillemot and Pintail to the day's haul, before a trip to the visitors' centre for coffee. (Being a devoted husband, I bought Linda a lovely bee book - needless to say, when I gave it to her later, she'd already got a copy!)
Bishop's Hide and the East Bank added a few 'bread and butter' species to this year's list: most gratifying how quickly it grows at this time of year! (Interesting to note that the Ruddy Shelduck can just be discerned on the blow up of the Pinkfeet image!)
