In past years we've always had 'semi resident' Red-legged Partridges in the garden: for some reason they deserted us last year. Now once again we are greeted at dawn by the arrival of a pair of these lovely little birds: they perch on top of the roof 'chukk-chukking' away until they decide the coast is clear. Then they drop down onto the lawn for a scout around: in the past we've frequently been visited by a pair proudly displaying their chicks: fingers crossed!
