What do you give the man who has all he needs and all he wants? Well, Linda and her kids thought hard and came up with the perfect presents for a loveable eccentric and bookworm!
The large flint is a 'livre de beurre': literally 'pound of butter'! It's a Neolithic core, from Pressignien in the Loire Valley. Tool-makers around 6000 years ago struck blades and scrapers from these large rectangular flints, leaving the characteristic scalloped surface: rare, valuable and a beautiful addition to my 'cabinet of curiosities'.
The books are crime fiction novels set in Norfolk, along the lines of Elly Griffith's books (all of which I've read!) while the yellow ball is a 'Moon Candle' Linda made from her bees' wax!
