Cley and Hickling - a rush of year ticks!

A bit breezy and very chilly, but Norm, Brian and I still had a morning out, starting at Cley and heading inland to Hickling after lunch.

First stop was a seawatch at the Coastguards: highlights being a flock of Scoter joined, at one point, by a Black-throated Diver. Bishops Hide was fairly unproductive, although it was fun looking through a large flock of Dark-breasted Brents for anything out of the ordinary (Which there wasn't!) Before coffee we checked out the fields behind the delicatessen, quickly locating a Cattle Egret and flock of Curlew.

With nothing much on the pager, we headed south (via a Peregrine-less Cromer Church!) for a walk around Hickling. As it happened, most of the reserve was closed because of flooding (not that we saw any!) but a walk back through the woods finally gave me last year's bogey bird: a beautiful Goldcrest!
