Waders at Cley...

We didn't feel like trekking all the way to Titchwell for the reported Red-necked Phal - the traffic was awful! Instead Norman, Brian and I headed for our default destination: Cley. On the way we stopped at the Dun Cow to look for the reported Glossy Ibis, but we couldn't see it: we carried on, parked and walked out to Bishop's. We spent a pleasant hour searching for the waders, adding Wood and Curlew Sandpiper, Dunlin, a distant Little Stint and other odds and ends, sharing them Claire, with a very pleasant birder from Sheringham.

In hope of finding a Whinchat (or other passage birds) we moved along to Gramborough Hill, where a possible perched on the fence for us: the light was awful and I couldn't decide whether it had enough super to make it a Whinchat, rather than another female Stonechat - of which there were plenty! New for the day was an obliging Wheatear.

Back to Cley for coffee followed by a trip to the centre hides. Here we added Cattle Egret to the daylist as well as Green Sandpiper, Greenshank and loads of Wall Browns... As we were climbing into the car to drive home, I noticed a Willow Emerald damselfly just a couple of feet away!
