Buckenham bonanza!

Terrific five-mile walk around Strumpshaw and Buckenham today: nothing rare, but some decent views of most of the birds that make the Yare Valley such a special place: Peregrine, Wigeon, Bean Goose and Buzzard (four individuals) plus Bittern, Treecreeper and Redwing at the Fen.

A couple of oddities included a hybrid goose with the Canadas at Buck and a curious pale-winged Carrion Crow at Strumpshaw.

The 'gentry' were game shooting at Buckenham: a pheasant landed five feet from me, begging the question how close did the shot fly?

Last photo: Ben Lewis' lovely new seat / viewing platform at the end of Sandy Path: a terrific addition to the facilities: well done Ben!
