Cape Shelduck at the Fen: someone needs a higher fence!

Following on from the recent visits to the Mid-Yare reserves of a Chiloe Wigeon, today I found a Cape Shelduck on the pool to the west of Lackford Run! Very pretty, but not the Ruddy Shelduck I initially hoped it might be!

Lots of other nice stuff at the Fen: a Sparrowhawk sunned itself by the old dipping pool, some amazingly-marked Marsh Harriers, and all the expected woodland birds. The Fen can be a great place for a walk round...

This evening a Hairy Hawker visited the garden and Swifts were suddenly everywhere!
