Honey Buzzard, hot air and honey-makers!

A glorious day's sunshine, spent cleaning out the pond filters and (in Linda's case) hive maintenance: she's worried by the appearance of some queen cells, and is taking steps to try and prevent swarming. Some people like to wear the hat of saving the planet: it's people like Linda who might actually be making a difference. (And all without racking up thousands of air-miles a year!)

While this was going on, I kept a weather eye on the skies and was rewarded by the fascinating sight of a hot air balloon passing low over our garden. Lots of raptors about, naturally: one pair of displaying Common Buzzards were joined by a third bird that drifted through northwards: it looked good for a Honey Buzzard to me...
