Dambusters!

Just a quick post to acknowledge the 75th anniversary of the raid on the Mohne, Eder and Sorpe dams by 617 Squadron.

Linda and I have been fortunate enough to meet the last surviving member of  'G - George', the only Lancaster to drop its 'Upkeep' on the Sorpe Dam. George 'Johnny' Johnson is a wonderful old-fashioned gentleman, and it's been our privilege and pleasure to have met him on numerous occasions: we've even had breakfast with him twice! Never mind modern revisionist views of the Dams Raid: Johnny (like all the others) was a courageous, patriotic young man who risked his life not just in May 1943, but many, many times to help defeat Nazism...
