Lesser Yellowlegs but no Squacco Heron...

As usual, Brian, Norman and I were on the north coast before 8.00am, starting at Stiffkey (where we 'bagged' the last parking spot!) in a vain attempt to connect with the weekend's Squacco Heron. The only noteworthy birds were a large flock of Black-tailed Godwits and a distant Green (?) Sandpiper.

A move along the coast to Titchwell eventually provided us with distant, hazy views of the returning Lesser Yellowlegs, as well as the obligatory Spoonbill, a few Ruff and a couple of Spotted Redshank. While taking a brief look for the Turtle Doves, we added Red Kite (a group of five) to the day list.

We dropped in on Warham Camp, but were a week or two early for the Chalkhill Blues: lots of Pyramidial Orchids and a few Common Blues. Last stop was Holt CP, where both White Admiral and Silver-washed Frit had been seen earlier, but a longish walk revealed just the first Southern Hawker of the year.
