Birds, beaches and steam locomotives....

Linda and I are back home after a terrific short break in North Norfolk. We've been staying in a beautiful apartment overlooking the seafront in Sheringham: it has a balcony with a table and chairs, so we've been able to sit outside with a glass of Prosecco and look out for passing seabirds. In truth there hasn't been much to look at, apart from the Wheatears on 'our' wall, a few Skuas and the divers I mentioned yesterday.

The various day-trips have been much more productive, with over 100 species including three Egrets, Spoonbills, Red Kites, Peregrine and some decent waders. Despite neither Linda nor myself being steam engine anoraks, it has been on our bucket list to take a ride on the Sheringham to Holt railway. It  was a very  pleasurable day out (despite the mile-and-a-half walk into Holt from the station!) which included lunch in Byford's and some serious shopping!
