All the recent astronomical excitement referred, you'll remember, to the full Moon: in actual fact, because of the lack of shadow and contrast, that's about the worst phase for examining our satellite with a telescope or binoculars.
This morning the waning Moon was hanging over the western horizon just before dawn: the terminator crossed through some of the densest crater fields, showing these - and rugged mountain regions - at their most impressive!
