White-winged Black Tern at Cantley

And lots more too! Linda and I both had things to do in the afternoon, so after an early breakfast we drove the short distance to Cantley Beet Factory. Once we'd checked in, we strolled along the riverside path to the end lagoon, enjoying views of three Peregrines on the way. Almost immediately we saw the Tern a fair way off along the far bank, so we continued to walk eastwards, picking up Green, Common, Wood and Curlew Sandpipers as we walked. To these we added several Ruff, two Yellow Wagtails and a probable Temminck's Stint. After a few minutes The WWBT drifted across, allowing excellent photos. Now and then it flew north and dropped down among a herd of cattle: it soon returned, however. Other birds we saw included Chiffchaff, all three hirundines and some pretty little young Cetti's Warblers. A great hour or two in the early morning sunshine...
