Very late Garganey at Strumpshaw Fen.

Now I imagine I'll soon hear differently, but I certainly can't remember seeing a Garganey in the third week of October: nevertheless, I picked one out today among the two to three hundred Teal in front of Tower Hide. Actually, it never came particularly close and spent some considerable time among the tangle of branches at the 'point' of the island.

No sign of any Great White Egrets, but lots of winter thrushes flew over and, as is generally the case at the moment, Kingfishers and Snipe (but no Jacks) appeared almost everywhere!
