Ducks deluxe! Green-winged Teal and Smew...

Taking advantage of a good forecast, Brian, Norman and I drove down to Suffolk to see if we could connect with the lingering Green-winged Teal at Herringfleet. Following a brief period of doubt from Foggy and Cleggy, I located this delightful American duck reasonably close to the woodland edge, in convoy with a few of his Eurasian cousins.

A short drive south along the backroads found us at Minsmere, where the three Smew (a male and two females) surrendered without a struggle. The best of the rest included a couple of colourful adders, lots of Med Gulls (doing Eider Duck impressions!) a group of seven Marsh Harriers and the first Sand Martin of the year.

A move to the Heath gave us close (but un-snappable) views of Dartford Warblers, as well as a much more obliging herd of Red Deer.
