Sculthorpe Moor: beautiful woodland birds...

The Hawk & Owl Trust reserve at Sculthorpe has become well-known over the past few days because of the presence of the Coues's Redpoll: but it's an amazing place to visit at any time. With recent records of Lesser Spotted Woodpecker and Goshawk, frequent Kingfisher and Otter sightings and a terrific back-up of resident woodland species, it's one of my favourite places in the county.

The hides and pathways are an example to other, muddy unwelcoming reserves administered by bigger, richer charities and the volunteer rangers are knowledgeable and helpful. Here are a few photos from yesterday's CAR visit!
