Cranes: three flocks at Clippesby and Acle

At this time of year flocks of Common Cranes begin to appear in the recently harvested and ploughed fields around Acle. They can often be seen from the narrow road leading to the beautiful little village of Thurne: today a flock of around  twenty was present at lunchtime. Further on towards Potter Heigham, another flock was visible from the road. As I drove home towards Acle, another group of nine or so were feeding in the fields behind the well-known grey barn, before being flushed by a Marsh Harrier.
