Productive morning on the North Coast: Short-toed Lark and others...

Brian and I finally managed a long morning out, starting with a seawatch at Cley, before moving on to West Runton.

Cley was great fun: not only dozens of Red-throated Divers close in, but also a Little Auk and a Black-throated Diver too! The walk along the shingle produced a good flock (50+) of Snow Buntings groveling around among the rough vegetation.

After coffee we moved on to West Runton. After a ten minute struggle to get a car parking ticket, we joined a small group of birders staring out into the ploughed fields. After several had given up and gone home, I am pleased to say I relocated the long-staying Short-toed Lark among a flock of Skylarks and Meadow Pipits.

We continued eastwards, our final stop being Waxham. Here we missed a Great Grey Shrike by seconds: despite being told it '..will be back in five minutes' it failed to return. (Gallingly it was reported again half an hour after we left!)
