Among a few old postcards in an album of old Norfolk photos are a couple that read (paraphrased) as follows:
"Dear Betty, I look forward to tea and cakes this afternoon at 4.00"
Both bear Edward Vll 1d stamps. Isn't it amazing to think that 120 years ago you could post a letter in the morning and be sure it would arrive in the afternoon! How different things are these days. Most of my meteorites originate from overseas, arriving at Heathrow before being forwarded to a so-called postal hub at East Midlands Airport. There they often remain for weeks, before finally being sent onwards. Here's a typical example from this morning:

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM
Your item departed a transfer airport in HEATHROW, LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM on April 6, 2022 at 10:42 am. The item is currently in transit to the destination.
April 5, 2022, 4:29 pm
Departed
SAN FRANCISCO, UNITED STATES
April 5, 2022, 6:25 am
Departed
LOS ANGELES, UNITED STATES
You'll notice that a colleague in the US sent me an item from Los Angeles: it took just one day to reach Heathrow. A week later it is still not out for delivery. Pitiful....
