Waders at Cley: getting them in singles!

A morning at Cley with Brian and Norman produced a few surprises and added a couple of new birds to the year total. First stop was the centre hides, where Simmond's Scrape held a superb Curlew Sandpiper and multi-ringed Limosa Black-tailed Godwit. Young Spoonbills were everywhere! A move to Bishop's Hide gave us close views of a Green Sandpiper, while a visit to the end of the East Bank added Arctic Skua (distantly!) More Spoonbills and then coffee and cheese scones. A visit to the loos produced a real surprise: a video loop about churchyard conservation was playing and Linda, Peter, Sue and I were in it several times!

A return to the Centre Hides allowed distant views of an inky-black Spotted Redshank and Bittern, as well as closer ones of Yellow Wagtail, Mipit and Swallow!
